Is anyone interested in acquiring a totally unique Jaguar? JEC; chassis/engine and history details available for your registers, if required. One of only SIX ever produced, the car is a 1959 Beaman Jaguar Mk IX 2-door convertible (yes! a Mk IX convertible). If you don’t know what it looks like (and I bet you don’t!), there is a photo in Paul Skilleter’s book, "Jaguar Saloons". The six cars were all hand-built in the early 1970s, each being unique, with individual trim and specification differences, being built to individual customer requirements. This car is 3.8 manual with o/drive and is in excellent condition; it has had very little use in the last ten years. It would benefit from some minor cosmetics to bring back to concours condition. Original receipts and Beaman factory worksheets are available, as is the car’s original registration document. The car is original right-hand drive and English built. Also available, 1953 Jaguar Mk VII, in very good overall condition - not used for the past 12 years. For further details, prices etc., please e-mail as above.

88 Jaguar XJS V12. Dark blue. Had it going 160+MPH and still had 1700 rpm’s to go before red lining it. Haven’t seen any other one’s around North Dakota. Would like to see some other one’s, to see what kind of condition mine is in. 80, 000 miles nicely kept up.

I recently requested anyone who new anyone else who could supercharge a 3.6 Jaguar XJS ’Monaco’ but didn’t have much joy, I have now decided to go for the XKR 4.0 supercharged engine complete with gear box and management system can you tell me if this will be an easier route to take and if so where I could lay my hands on one. My Father has an XK150 which has been experiencing starting problems when hot. It transpired that the Kenlowe fan was putting to much load on the battery, and as a result the engine would not turn over fast enough to start. Our next step is to fit a switch to control the fan. Has anyone else experienced problems like this, and how did they resolve the situation.

Great club and the website is of the expected high standard! Any chance of having a classified section in the site just like in the magazine. If kept up to date I’m sure you will get more hits. I’m still looking for a series 3 sovereign of my own. Some day.. some day.
[webman: - I can see that on-line classifieds might seem attractive but, with around 17 pages of ads per month (including 10 full colour pages) the task of updating each month would be too onerous. IMHO the classifieds are best kept in the magazine, were you can browse easily and for free!]

Now I have found this web site, it appears that not all Jaguars are catered for! How about some nice XJ40 pictures in the photo gallery please. There are many XJ40 owners out there, myself included, (1990 Sovereign) and we would like some form of recognition! After all, these are very fine useable Jaguars. MK2’S, as beautiful as they are, they are not the sort of Jaguar that I would like to use every day so I think we have the best of both worlds- to own and drive a Jaguar as and when we want! (No offence to any MK2 owners who use their car all year round if there are any!) The only worry I have is what will I do when petrol runs out!
[webman: - One fair point, one not so. When I first set up the 'gallery', I used photos taken from the early 'Entente Cordiale's. Initially, I took photos of cars of interest to me and models which I could recognise (there, that's my prejudice/ignorance out in the open). XJ40s were not greatly in evidence in the early Ententes, being greatly outnumbered by MK IIs and E-Types. I was never quite sure how much interest there would be in a 'gallery', which is why I placed it on my own site (2 years ago, webspace was a finite and expensive resource! - how things have changed). Having recently compiled a 'model timeline' I became aware how many models were missing from the gallery. No slight was intended to owners of missing models and I welcome images free of copyright. Regarding the daily use of MK IIs, having owned and used a MK II and a 340 on a daily basis, I can say that they were more reliable than when used ad hoc - old bodies need regular excerise ;-) ]

I have always been in love with the XJ6, and am now the proud owner of a ’77 Daimler 4.2 Coupe. I have had different answers to my question, and would appreciate a definitive solution to my problem. Can I run it on unleaded or not? Please can someone tell me if I can or not, many thanks to anyone who can help.
[webman: - The answer is a qualified YES. The JEC commissioned an 8 page report on the subject of fuel and its effects, which was published in the club's magazine (April '98). Re-prints are available from the club's main office for £1.25 or you can download the article (in JPEG format ~2.0 MB) from the Jag-Lovers site here - I have published the report's summary here.]

One of my two Jags is a ’90 XJS the other a ’94 Vanden Plas which my wife drives. I have a question about my XJS. With only lower octane gasolines available these days than the engine was originally designed to use, and made worse in my community with reformulated gasolines, can or should I use an octane booster? Or is there a better additive to try? Does anyone know if these products will cause eventual damage to the engine? I would like to know if anyone has knowledgeable opinion.

Does anyone know what would be the best Jaguar club for an owner of the new S-Type? I am wondering whether a new car would be welcomed into any of the clubs or if they are just for older cars.
[webman: - I can only speak for the JEC, we welcome owners of all models, whether brand new or vintage. The editor of our club magazine recently took his S-Type on the Entente Cordiale trip to France, in the company of XK8s, an Austin Swallow and 150 other Jaguars]

1973 XJ12 refuses to start, used to run like a dream not much wrong we hope car a very good cond when bought 2yr ago. anybody out there who might like to exchange mechanical help for a drive or two in one of the fastest Jaguars ever built please call to discuss, this is not a joke if you have insurance and can help put the car back on the road then you could drive it as and when you choose (subject to agreement) as I do not use it that often (probably one of the reasons it does not want to start) these cars need to be driven. we have changed dis cap, plugs, checked batt, earth, fuel delivery to carbs, fuel ret to tank, ig trans, ig amp, coil ballst res etc. but still no joy.this car when going well is fantastic fun to drive the power is scary but very smooth, so if you can help send mail. thank you. I have owned a 3 Series Jaguar XJ6 since 1985. I was informed by the local Jaguar dealer that the series 3 engine required an expensive conversion to enable it to run on unleaded fuel. I have since been informed through the internet that this is not the case and the series 3 engines can indeed run on unleaded fuel. I was also told that there was an article about this in one of the JEC magazines. I would be grateful if someone could let me know about this and which magazine contains the article. Regards Brian

I always get into these things backwards. I had a 68 E Coupe which I sold about 1982. Then I got into antique boats. I remembered an old article that said that the 6 cylinder engines have been in boats, tanks, and cars. The other day I thought "Hmmm, if the 6 was used in a boat, maybe someone in England makes marine exhaust manifolds for the V12!" It went downhill from there. I found a damaged 85 XJS that I planned to keep the engine and part the rest. The car turned out to be rust free and only banged up a little bit...too nice to part out. So, you will probably see me chasing parts under my e-mail name. However, I am still looking for marine exhaust manifolds for either the six or V12. Back to the ’68- It was a burgundy coupe with working air. The person before me had converted it to 3 Weber 45DCOE9’s on an Australian manifold and a Mallory ignition.

My driver is a ’58 XK150 FHC with a 3.8 with OD. Some years ago I installed A/C with the evaporator located in the boot. It took 13 feet of AC hose to join to the condenser! I bought my second Jaguar last summer, the first was a 1985 Vanden plas. The previous owner neglected it and it cost me a small fortune to restore it. The second one is an 1986 XJ6 Sovereign and is without a doubt an improved model. This one was well maintained and is in showroom condition. It also is not plagued with the quirky electrical/mechanical problems of its older sister. The only problem I have is when the engine breather is connected, it blows oil out the dipstick tube. Engine runs well, no noise, no overheating. Any suggestions?
