Hi visiting the site once more - this time with an ulterior motive! My garage is cluttered with 9 'teardrop' alloys - good to new, shod with 220/65/390 tyres - 3 nearly new - the rest ranging from 3mm tread to 5mms.I need to sell - prices ranging from £80 for the best and downwards accordingly. Any interested people should phone 01724 782867 asap or email me.This will stop my wife giving me GBH of the earholes about their presence!! Regards Iain

Mine is a 1986 XJ6, which I purchased new. It has run up only 75,000 miles. I keep it in excellent condition. Indeed, I'm meticulous with both the exterior and interior. However, a problem has cropped up--or rather, dropped down--in the interior. The thin velour upholstery covering the dome has begun to sag in places. In those spots, it has become detached from its soft backing. Does anyone know how this might be repaired?

HELP!! (Jaguar) XJSCI am thinking of buying my brother in laws 1987 XJSC champagne colour Jaguar. It has 66K kilometers on it and is in immaculate condition. This car has only a few problems with it ie. a small hole in the muffler (left side), the drivers side window rails need replacement, and the canvas top covers need to be redyed. As for everything else, it is like a brand new car. He is asking 18,000 Canadian dollars. What would be a fair price for a car like this. It has spoke wheels, hard and soft top, and tan leather interior. Could you also tell me what type of problems are common with such a car, and if there is a web site that would be helpful to me for more information

I have recently bought a 1990 Jaguar Sport XJR and I am as happy as Larry. However the on board computer seems to have a mind of its own and switches on and off as it feels fit. If anyone else has had similar problems with this model or any other, please e-mail me on the above address with a possible cure if there is one. I have consulted a Jaguar dealer and they just took a sharp intake of breath and said "sounds expensive". Well they would wouldn't they. As I have only owned my new baby for a month, I do not want to start forking out shed loads of money on what is probably a simple electrical fault. Any help would be much appreciated.

My father, a serious Jaguar enthusiast and collector, got me interested in the cars about a year ago. Seeing that I had become a bit fascinated by his collection Jags, he bought me an XJ6 for Christmas (December of 98). Unfortunately only a mere three weeks after his giving me the car I totalled it...Obviously I was sicken by the loss of my new love. Soon, however, he got me yet another Jaguar to replace my having literally destroyed the other. It was another XJ6. I drove it for about two months and become board with it. Revealing this to my father he generously traded me a car from his collection, a car that no one could ever within an entire life-time lose interest in. The car in which I am referring is the acclaimed Vanden Plas. I loved it and still do a half year later. I, however still crazy about the Vanden Plas, purchased another model Jaguar with the help of my father. It is beautiful older model XJ6. The car has been "Fully" restored to factory specks. We (my! father and I) even went to the expense of actually having all new "Leather" replaced on the front and rear seating areas as well as the door panels. I love Jaguars! For this simple, yet intense reason I feel as though I would great appreciate a membership into the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club. I am strongly considering submitting my application...

Hello to one and all. Today I paid £225 for my first "JAGUAR XJ40" my life long ambition has been realised. Now for the hard graft. I know what you all are thinking:- "wow", "Did he say £225".... the answer is a resounding YES ... I have been an admirer of the Jaguar XJ series since I can remember and when they brought out the xj40 in 85/86?I thought I had died and gone to heaven ..anyway enough of my droolings . I am now in the predicament of having to repair/restore this amazing, beautiful executive cruiser. So please "HELP" all emails will be greatly appreciated. MY baby is a XJ40 2.9i auto with std electric pack and ("Wait for it ")Electric sunroof not seen often I have found she has dark blue tweed pepperpot alloys and a semi new exhaust. My problem arises from the severe rust in the boot, bonnet, door pillars (not severe) doors(2) and what appears to be a slipping clutch mechanism (this I need the most advice on). The car is in reasonable nic and is going to be restored to how she once was. So please help me If you can with advice and tips. regards Bob Weiss

STOP PRESS! Hello once again Jag enthusiasts. Just a brief note to update you all about the "UK OWNERS AND DRIVERS OF THE JAGUAR XJ40" web-site I reported on a short while ago. I can now report that this site is justifiable, and is now all up and running. Phil, the author, has had problems with the server he was using. He has now changed to a different company and the web-site is now fully functional. Please ignore my comments on this subject futher down this guest book page. If you pay your £5 membership, you will recieve access to this site and I have found it to be very informative and quite extensive. Any of you reading this who owns any model of XJ40 would benefit from joining, as included on the site are pages of never previously published useful information including lists of specialist companies etc. My appologies to Phil, and Ashfield Electronics for my previous comments about your site. Kind Regards to all, Steve Jordan.

I have recently fulfilled a long-time dream by purchasing a bright red 1966 E-Type FHC 4.2. The car is an absolute joy to drive, the sound alone makes it worth every penny it cost. I had expected fairly high running/spares costs & was pleasantly surprised when I found out that just about every part is available at reasonable cost. The one thing I cannot find is a jack. I saw one advertised at some hideous price, which as I am not interested in concours, I refused to pay. Does anybody know of a jack from another make/model which will do the job?

I have owned several Jag’s over the years and while there is no way anyone can deny that this is the most maintenance plagued automobile in existence for as expensive as it is, there is no other car that captures the admiration and attention of the rest of the driving public as a JAGUAR. It doesn’t have to be an XKE or 2000 model. I own a 1985 XJS- V12, a 1991 XJS-V12, a 1983 XJ6, a 1984 XJ6, a 1985 XJ6, and a 1986 XJ6. That’s what you call Jag Poor. But, what I wanted to say was, I see drivers in NEW anything else but a Jaguar, breaking their necks checking out the old cats. And especially my XJ6’s. But if you are reading this, you probably already know this. I hope I haven’t wasted your time to tell you I love ’em.

Currently performing a bare-metal body-off restoration of Mk VII. At that wonderful stage where body and chassis can be rejoined. Any advice on original colour schemes for cars of this era?

Greetings once again Jaguar fans. I thought it important to let you know about a web site that is available to Jaguar XJ40 owners. It is called "UK OWNERS AND DRIVERS OF THE JAGUAR XJ40." It is provided by a company called Ashfield Electronics and is published by a person named Phil. A £5 membership fee is required to join. Once your money has cleared, you are provided with a user name and password to access the site further. I have sent in my £5 cheque, which has been cashed but since then, have not been able to access the site at all by using the password etc provided. I have repeatedly tried to contact the web site operators via the e-mail addresses provided, but I have had zero response. I may be rather premature in this warning and the site may well be justified, but I am starting to believe that I have been forced into paying out £5 for nothing. If any of you have had any more luck than I have in accessing this site, I would love to know. In the mean-time, be cautious when parting with your hard earned cash to access this site. I will add another entry on this page to keep you all posted about any further progress made. I don't want to give this web-site a bad name or image, but I think it is important enough to warn others. The site address is: http://www.geosites.com/ukjaguars/index.html.
Finally, I wish some boffin could come up with a new substance to spray on British roads other than the dreaded rock salt that is used at present. Before you all go into the realms of telling me it does a good job of preventing the road from icing over, this is not my argument! Rock salt is, as we all know steel's worst enemy. It prevents me from enjoying my Jaguar during the winter months for fear of the dreaded tin worm appearing on my beloved XJ40 Sovereign. I have spent a small fortune on new paint and rust prevention, but I still can't bring myself to take my Jag out only to return with it covered with a coating of nasty white stuff. I think salt is alright as long as its only used for sprinkling on your dinner! Surely we all pay enough road and fuel tax to benefit from something other than salt. How about Austrian wine for example!

I own a Jaguar 1.5 Saloon from 1946 an a Spare-car (when I didn’t found the missing parts for this car) from 1948. I’m also interested in Morgans 4/4 (1950 and 1975) and MG B. It s my first time in the Internet and I like to found a lot of information about my hobby.

Jag Enthusiasts Club is the best club going. I have 340 mk11 which I have rebuilt as 340 3.8 although extensively modified in all departments. To date I have owned 5 Jaguars over the last 25 years including a 73 V12 E-Type. Looking for a tired 3.8 E Type roadster to restore as a lightweight replica finances permitting.
