Just bought my first Jaguar. A 1983 XJ-S V12 Coupe, would not have bought it without the help of the Jaguar drivers club of Queensland. They have been fantastic in their support, which results in the car being less daunting to operate than the wives tales led me to believe. Besides, any negatives fade into oblivion when i drive it.

I am driving a 1990, H plate, Daimler sovereign 4 litre with sports button, full leather, all the extras and I think its great. 90,000 on the clock and it purrs. Its an auto and when you kick down and switch on that sports button it just flies. I am a retired traffic police officer so I'm used to driving fast cars but this ones the best so far.

Hello world, just signed up for another Jag magazine, this one will have to wait a while. Pity really. Pity also I cannot get a free question to the experts, because if I could I'd probably ask something like What are the chances of getting plans/specifications to add a glass divider to the back of a mk x? Still someone might know. Jolly good show, pip pip hooray

I own a beautiful 1977 XJS...It has ran fine forever but has slowly slipped into a comma...It is running really rich now and won't pass smog...And now my left cataylic converter went out...Does anyone know how to fix this problem...I have done a complete tune-up and even took it to a whole-in-the-wall Jag repair shop that the Jag dealers sent me to and the guy fucked me...He didn't know what the hell he was doing...Is there anyone that can really work on these cars in Northern California?...I would sure like to meet him and drop some money in his pocket...

I've noticed that when I first bought my Daimler Double Six (1985), the most speed I could achieve was 141 mph.Every year since the top speed has increased by about 2mph so it now does 149, annoyingly under 150 by a fraction...how come my car is getting faster? Anyone know? Each time the car just has me, no tools luggage etc and about 2 gallons of petrol. And its only had oil, filters etc changed twicw a year.

Interesting reading. Great resource for us Jag/Daimler owners..other marques seem to have a lot less info on the web. Im looking to reduce the number of cars I own so they are all for sale until I am left with 2 (more manageable) Daimler Coupe Auto (£2000) Jag Sov 1985 Auto (£500-spares repair) Daim Double Six 1985 broken, many spares, and the best XJ6 1985 auto 3.4 21k genuine miles FSH (£5000) Regards, happy safe driving.....

I recently noticed an unusual sound in the area of my left front tire (1995 XJ6). My repair shop says my front shocks are bad and have caused excessive tire wear to the extent of wearing "chunks" from the inside of the tire. This, according to replair shop, is the cause of the unusual sound emanating from the left front area of the vehicle. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does this sound legitimate? Thanks Don

I have two Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign's for sale: The first is 1987 2.9 with excellent black coachwork and cream leather interior, Alpine stereo and usual features. Attention required to oil cooler, door handles, alternator - £200 (I am told this car was owned by someone connected with the 80's pop band Duran Duran but have been unable to confirm this). Second car was bought for spares to fix the first - 1988 2.9 fern green metallic, good cream leather interior - slight accident damage to front and rear but only 88,000 miles and engine looks very clean. - £50.00.

I recently joined JEC - I've mislaid my membership number - and am hoping you may be able to help.

From 1948 to 1976 our family business included the Jaguar franchise in Edinburgh, David Harrison Ltd. Of eight Jags sold to Tom Legget of Dean Tannery in Edinburgh between 1955 and 1975 three were E Types. Tom became a friend of Lofty England of Jaguar Cars and got unique individual treatment at Jaguars. All his three E Types were factory painted in his own Green with Maroon leather and often had factory mods carried out. His V12 was converted to fuel injection and had Minilites fitted with other detail accessories. 'Bullet' parking lights were fitted to the roof and driving lights were added and the rear number plate fixing was unique to carry the short plate, 'S6', and two large fog lights were fitted to the rear. A small Motalita maroon covered steering wheel was fitted. The car was sold by Tom Legget in the Yorkshire area and somebody, somewhere must recognise this car. I am interested in finding it and buying it for full restoration. His 1966 2+2 would also be of interest if the V12 can't be found but I have no idea on it's whereabouts. Over the years I have scoured classic mags but no joy. This car must, must still be around and it is likely still very recognisable with the mods carried out. Can you help? I have been a member for a number of years and enjoy the membership very much. I have been trying to log on to your "JEC-DIRECT" line to order some parts but have been unable to for a few days. I did have a question of one of your parts and that is part # C12309 inlet manifold gasket kit. Is this the same as part number C14127 as shown in the E-Type parts manual? And why 4 there are only 3 inlet manifolds? Thanks. Bob Alness

It's when I flick the sports switch on and push peddle to the metal that a smile as wide as the jag's grill apprears on my face I leave these moments to the rare occasions for the roads in county Clare require special care. Great Site - Currently, own a 4 ltr Sovereign, which is my second. Wish the Irish government would'nt penalise drivers of cars with large engines with high road tax. I pay over 1000 euros to tax the old girl on the road. However, I still can't help myself digging deep into my pockets to pay the tax. Safe driving to you all. Paddy

Well done Conor I am sure there will be lots of Jaguars around when you take your driving test in a few years time, Jaguars last forever if looked after properly.

Tony from Brisbane, you obviously had a run of bad luck there mate, take it back to the guy that sold you it and ask for a proper Jaguar, or just replace the fuses and the bulbs.

[ webman - I seldom comment on postings, but I agree with the above. I have also been labouring under the misapprehension that Aussies have a sense of humour! ]

Bought a 1989 xj6 a few months ago. So far had to replace air-con facia unit, seized radiator fan coupling, and now on our first really hot day of spring the electrics have gone bonkers and I have lost one of my headlights (maybe, or it could be the BFM, who give a ....?). What a heap of junk! My $2000 Holden works better than this overrated piece of crap engineering.

I dropped a friend from work off tonight in my Sovereign and spent ten minutes very enthusiastically showing her husband under the bonnet. As a teacher I find the kids fight to be in it when we go to football - In fact I've never met anyone who isn't anything less than very impressed by the car - .....but chaps, don't you think sometimes they are a bit conspicuous?....but then again...when you turn the key and cruise off (mine will do 150mph) do you really care??? I think not! I pulled over to help a lady with a poorly Daimler 250 (Inspector Morse shape) the other week - it had smoke coming from under the bonnet and the paintwork looked tired, but you know when you are smitten by a brand when you eagerly leap from the warmth on a cold wet day to push a 'Big Cat' home in the rain!

Thank you for this site, and if anyone is looking for a specialist garage the wonderful guy I use is Mark at Jojags in Liverpool - I cannot say enough good things about him - You can reach him on 0151 486 9007 - He's excellent and very reasonable.=8-){---{

F-reg 2.9 XJ6 auto with approx 84,000 miles. White. Is anyone interested in buying for £600 o.n.o. Car runs well, but does need tlc from an enthusiast. Recent problem with transmission fluid leak but otherwise trouble-free, apart from usual wear-and-tear. (owner is NOT mechanically-minded)Because of local parking restictions, owner keen to hand car over as quickly as possible so early responses hoped for.

Have a 1991 4.0 Sovereign, great machine, however, usually only in the morning the break fail light comes on only for a couple of seconds and goes off even though you may still be breaking. The breaks are always fine, pedal resistance always consistant. Is there a dodgy sensor somewhere?

For all those happy owners of XJS - stay happy and check you still have a vent pipe connected to your battery! If not, fit one or alternatively a sealed battery, otherwise you could be in for a very serious case of corrosion - I've just paid the bill!!!!!!!!

Even Jaguar's finest cant diagnose the problem, any help would be great Thanks for taking the time to read this message Kind Regards Mark

My youngest rev head son has acquired an XJ6 with a transplanted hot Chevy 350V8 motor which he is just about to put on the road (we can do things like that legally here). Look out Australia! Any hybrid nuts can contact Matt at this email to discuss.
