Hi there, New to Jaguar, moving over from a 1989 Range Rover Classic. Im wanting a 3.2 V8 XJ Sport, with the newer interior, when did it change over? Seems to be about 1998 but im not sure. Bought a 1991 XJS Convertible from someone who had to make the unfotunate choice between getting married or selling the car! Fortunately for me, he chose the latter. Since then I have had the exterior of the car restored to it's former glory and am currently considering attention to the interior. I only drive the car occassional weekends but the dunes of Dubai can't compare to the leafy lanes of Hampshire (UK). I have gained a great deal of advice from this site, those in the U.S. and a local garage who have a trained engineer who appreciates the car as much as I do. The one thing I would really like is a handbook for the car,especially for the AC controls! If anyone out there has one, I would greatly appreciate a copy. Thanks, Paul

Hi there, this may be a silly question, but how do I crank the engine over manually? I have a 1978 4.2 auto and need to remove cylinder head, this involves removing timing chain cogs, I need to rotate the cogs to get to the bolts. Any help will be more than welcome!!!!!

Hope some bright spark of a jag enthusiast can help. Was sorting out the family garage with father and out of a box came a Speedo and rev counter which he has had for years. He believes these are out of a 1936 ss jag the Speedo is o-100 miles an our and there is an ss logo above the upper milage counter. Recently bought an xj-s 3.6 1987 which I love. Clearly the windscreen leaks as in the rain drops fall onto the passenger seat. I also notice that the windscreen mists up above the vent - what is wrong? Is it simple / cheap to fix? Also moisture found on the passenger foot mat - where is this coming from? Any ideas would be appreciated. Rear suspension seems to cherp like a blackbird - is this indication that the bushes need replacing? How much?

Hi, I have just joined JEC. Am looking forward to my first copy or the Club Magazine. I have a 2003 S-Type and a 2002 X-Type. I am trying to figure out how to install a voice module on my X-Type. My VIN is a C5xxx series and I am told that Voice won't work on vehicles prior to VIN C9xxx. Other than a missing wire, no one seems to know why. Having done a frame up on an MGA, MGB and XJ6 Series I, I am not afraid to run a wire or two. I can't find anyone, however, who knows what and where. How hard can it be? If it doesn't require a new computer, it should be doable. I have Voice in my S-Type and I like it. Now, if I can just get it in my X all would be right with the world.

Hi to all you Jag lovers :o)In my younger days I owned a Hillman Hunter and because of my love of Jaguars I drilled the bonnet and fixed a small Leaper on the bonnet (I was only 18yrs of age - it was the closest I could get to a Jag:o)) Im now in my more mature years and have had the pleasure of owning an X300 and a Beautiful Blue XK8 coupe, Im now on my 3rd Jag a Convertible XJS and want to fix a small Leaper on the bonnet, I have the Leaper with no bolts and do not want to drill the bonnet myself therefore can any one advise me where I could get my Leaper fixed and hopefully within the circumference of the Growler badge so If I have to remove the Leaper the Growler badge will cover the extra hole required to fix the Leaper. Hi Jagnuts, how are things going. Have just spoken to two main dealers about 7500 mile and 15000 mile service charges for a 4.2litre Sovvy. £380.00 for the 7500 miler and £580.00 odd for the 15000 miler. Looks like the older Jag owners will be squeezed out sooner than most of us think. Tried to book service with Wyn Thomas but Mike there said they were fully booked for about 5 weeks. Still intend to though as the 7500 miler is quoted at £99.00 plus VAT and the 15000 miler at £185.00 plus VAT. He added that he didn't know what the others were doing to justify asking those prices. Probably booking their holidays to the Maldives or the Caribbean!! Oh well, that's life. Anyway I did order a BW66 tranny filter and gaskets etc to do the business on my car. I noted that the 'original' spec filter was made in Vietnam!! Quality appeared to be of a very high standard even though it is a comparatively low tec article. Unfortunately my car is 'dead' at the present!! Won't start at all. Have been using a portable jumpstarter of late and may have 'cooked' something. No bangs or smoke noticed tho'. Bought my first jaguar last year, a low mileage xjs 3.6 coupe ,requiring body-restoration , but is a low mileage ( 63k ) example in alpine green , service history. Currently working on the near-side of the car , ie replacing full outer sill and new inner rr arch & full outer wing pressing.(these are now available from jdht.) This car is a 1988 example with the jaguar sportspack suspension option and is all original. I intend a full restoration ,to be able to enjoy this "classic" model. These cars really are a d.i.y prospect for the home restorer , like me.

Hi folks, I drive a 1986 Series III Sovereign with about 132,000 miles on the clock. I drove to Stoneliegh last week and found that my car had consumed about a pint and a half of oil after returning home. This was the first time that the car had been run on unleaded fuel. My question is would unleaded fuel increase oil consumption to this degree and will it continue or will it settle back down? The car has no obvious leaks, doesn't run smokey, has no signs of oil in the header tank. This was the first real extended run at continuous cruising speed after being laid up for the winter. The car has never consumed oil at this rate in the past. Any 'wise and knowing advise' would be much appreciated. Forever a Jagnut Malcolm Young

Waxoyling the front cross-member and everything else too. Looking forward to washing her down(the car!!) and running her up to temperature. Car: 1977 4.2 Daimler Coupe. I am having the vinyl roof taken off at the moment and a bare metal respray - its amazing what paint hides! I have left tradition behind and fitted 17" alloys with 235/50 Kumhos, we'll see! Other bits being done include a racing suspension set-up and uprated engine. The car will be doing the London-Brighton on the 27 April. Hope its sunny.

We have recently purchased a 2000 XKR Silverstone Coupe which we absolutely love for its looks and performance. A much better value than the DB7 which we were considering as the alternative. However the chrome trim on the wheels is very easily bent as we discovered recently, we are looking for a second hand wheel as new ones are around £600. Please contact me if you can help.

I am running a charity ball for the NCT in July 2003 with the theme of 007 and am looking for someone who will put their XKR on the front of the venue for guests to admire and to run a money raising game from akin to guess the weight of the cake. It need not involve the car being touched. The charity is NCT a mummy and baby charity. Anyone know anyone who might help out?

What?? The Brighton pier collapsed? For example: what about dedicating the next "London to Brighton Run" income to a final long awaited and never undertaken restoration of this historic landmark?! I have never participated in the historic race for lack of financial strength. But let's face the fact: no London to Brighton Run without the pier! Great site, easy to use and al the info you can want on Jaguars. I will reapply to join club once I buy another Jaguar, hopefully in the near future - to help me make my final choice can anyone advise on the XJR (a 95 6 cylinder model) and if £8500 is good value for this from a dealer. Also what about running costs, especially tyres. Any help greatly appreciated.
