Help/advice/info required :- Have an '87 2.9 Sov with 78k on clock . Sometimes runs like a lame dog after negotiating roundabouts and right hand corners - dies, sometimes spits back through air intake (I think) then gradually picks up after a couple of seconds - hard work to get it up to 90mph although have had it well over a ton. Often misses & splutters at around 60+. Tried another fuel pump, new fuel + air filters - injectors - fuel pressure regulator - plugs - leads - shell optimax - fuel line cleaner and only does 13-16 mpg urban running (24-26 on run)Has anybody had + cured same?

i have a 95 jaguar xjs 4.0 celebration which goes very nicely, apart from the steering which seems to feel all the bumps in the road and comes through to the steering wheel, also feels very vague on the road. anybody else had this problem and was able to get over it. i did hear of a garage in hampshire mentioned on top gear but have never been able to find it. any help would be most appreciated

Since 1995 I have a Jaguar mk II 3,4 date of manufacture 16.06.1961 LHD, MOD, with chassisnumber 177315 DN opalescent silver grey (it still is!) with the original trim (colour tan). Of course I love the car - has always been my dream car -I know the last two Dutch owners personally.The heritage trust certificate says the original dealer was C.G.A. (does anyone know who this was?). I know that it has been sent to Italy and in 1968 it was imported into the Netherlands from Italy. Can anyone help me by finding more details about ist history?

HELP! I am in dispute over an MOT with my local garage(and i am soooo angry...) he failed it(1989 jaguar sovereign, 'xj40') because the ABS warning light doesnt stay on when the engine is cranked(not running) because it alternates with other warning lights such as seatbelt, handbrake on etc!!!!!!i know this is what it should do but he wont pass it. In the handbook there should be a page saying this, I need a charitable jag owner to fax/email this page, I CANT FIND A HANDBOOK ANYWHERE!!!

When the motor is running rather hot (and she does that regular) the brakes will stick completely. Is it the mastercylinder or the new unit or something else ? Who can help ?

Have spent several pleasurable years driving a 3.6 XJ40 Sovereign. Sympathies to Paul Oughton and his headlining. I had a similar problem. Tried several fixes - the only one that works is a replacement. Try not to use spray on type cleaners on the headlining - seems to affect the glue. Why do these cars rust !!! I bought a 1996 XJR in 2001 with 45,000 miles. The car consistently shuts down in heavy traffic or if idling for only 20 minutes. The car will only restart after a waiting 20-25 minutes. I have replaced the throttle sensors and conducted a throttle service. The problem still continues. Any suggestions to solve this problem is welcomed.

Hello, I am a happy owner of a 1976 Daimler XJ6 Sovereign Coupé Cabriolet conversion by Lynx. It is conversion number 16 of the 16 Lynx-conversions. It is regency red with black leather interior. Does anyone knows more about this beauty ? It would have been the property of a Netherlander, who would have retired in his castle in France. What might be the average price for this car ? I have an XJR's convertable. My car started life as a normal 5.3 convertable. The number 1 cylinder went bang whist I was touring Europe and the English winter turned the interior green. Then I got lucky. I managed to buy a stolen recovered XJR's 6.0L car from an insurance company. I swopped the mechanical and electrical bits etc, resprayed the body and upgraded the interior including a rear seat conversion to my own design. Five years on from the rebuild and it still looks and drives like new. The XJR's bits made a great difference to the performance and the car is my number one choice to drive.

I own a 2003 Jaguar XJ8. Since Dec. I've been absorbing water (with paper towels) that has accumulated in the gas resorvoir before opening gas cap to fuel. Recently my car would not start. The Jag dealer repair shop told me my tank was full with water (10 gallons????) and would not warranty the repair as it was considered contaminated gas from an outside problem not car defect. He denies the drainage weep hole in gas resorvoir was clogged and could not explain my 6 month ordeal of water accumulation after a rain. The big concern is I am not sure but I don't recall seeing the little plastic tower that now sits in my gas resorvoir prior to the 4 day hospitalization of my Jaguar at the dealer repair shop. I would like to know if anyone out there, Sole owner with a 2003 XJ8 4 door sedan would be willing to let me know if this tower I now see (it's about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch high)came from the factory when they bought their car NEW or was it a flat weep hole and my repair guy replaced my clogging hose with a new drainage filter. I'd be ever so grateful if I could hear from a fellow Jag lover. Thanks Lynne

Can anybody help me with a wiring diagram for the fuel system on a 1961 MkIX? The fuel gauge remains on the full position all the time the ignition is switched on, no matter which fuel tank I am using fuel from. I have had the gauge sent away and refurbished and I have also fitted a new fuel change over switch, but the problem still persists. I suspect that there is a problem with the wiring. Any ideas?

Arrrrrrgh! Rather than pay £250 for a jaguar garage to look at my heater blowers, my mate is helping me to replace them with a pair i sourced myself. Unfortunately, he has managed to stop the following from working: Tail lights, Number plate lights, Interior Lights, Puddle lamps (in doors), Dash lights (on the analogue dials)Dash panel lights (on the centre console), sunroof, rear elec windows. Bought my first (and definitely not last) Jaguar XJ8 4.0 (1999) about a month ago and it is absolutely fantastic. Only issue is the engine coolant low light has come on a few times - toppen it up about 1300 miles ago and it's back on again - does anyone have any ideas - no sign that I can see of a head gasket problem. I Have recently purchased a E Reg 2.9 XJ6 Auto, it is a really great car i have had many Yanks over the years but honestly this MATCHES. them all, I do have a knocking on the Brake pedal and their is a loud knock when the car is idling the large rubber pipe to the servo is moving with the noise. it passed the mot o/k but would like to know if anyone has had the same. We are trying to locate the owner of a particular car, a 1951 Jaguar XK120. My wife had a Distant relative who owned this car in Rockford, Ill., up until he died in 1974. He had no children, so we don't know where the car went from there. We have some pictures of him sitting in this car taken in the 1950's. Hi, just bought a 2001 Sovereign with the on-board sat-nav. Does anyone know how to override the "feature" which prevents anyone from inputting destinations etc while the car is moving. I know it's a bad idea to do this while driving but I think the passenger should be able to do it, and besides, I'm a grown up and therefore capable of making my own judgement on such things. Thanks. Looking for a solution to a 95 XJR Jaguar problem. When cold, gas does not reach engine at there seems to be a sensor blocking gas from reaching engine. Stepping on the gas does not make a difference. Also does this when warm occasionally. Any suggestions ?

I am trying to figure out if I can use unleaded fuel in my "74" XKE Jaguar. I ws told to use an lead adative but recently was told it is not necessary. Also is 77 octane OK??

I have a 1985 Jag XJS HE that has an electrical drain. We put a fully charged battery in the car and a few hours later the battery is drained. Can you offer any suggestions? My seasoned mechanic who has put Jag engines together is befuddled.

Hello . Can someone help me please I have just bought a 1988 3.6 XJS manual gearbox. to fix-up. There are 2 fuse boxes(with no fuses in) under the bonnet on the left hand side. I want to replace the rear shocks in my 83 jag xjs, the book I am using doesn't detail enough about this task. Do you have step by step fashion on how to do this successfully. right now is has coiled springs around each shock. I can probably get these off but would have to take them to a shop to remove the spring.

I recently bought a Mark 2 from Australia for restoration. Supposedly rust free.....not. Imagine my disappointment when I realized it had been in a couple of front end shunts and the repairs completely bodged! The relationship between the wheels / arches is different on both sides so I could do with another car to look at and maybe take a few measurements. Anybody willing to help....please?

I have owned my 1986 Jaguar XJS-12 for about 2 years now and have as you all probally know a lot of money into it. I am now being told my oil pan is terribly bent up and leaking. The replacement cost has been quoted as $3000.00 and I find that way too high. I think it may be the old leaky copper seal around the oil plug(which may be stripped) but the mechanic insists I need a new pan.... Any comments?

Hi, I have a 1991 XJ6(XJ40). Front N/S indicator and repeater not working. Have swapped Light Control Module. Also opened LCM and am able to light indicator and repeater by pressing relays. Wiring diagram would probably help but any help appreciated.

Bought a nice XJ6 1988 in Dark blue, back in April 1999 - excellent car with v few problems (full SH). Also recently picked up a 1991 (J reg) facelift XJ6. Great condition, but laquer on 2 of the 15" lattice alloy wheels is bubbling in places. Q1: how best to sort the wheels out. Any products to recommend or could I just switch the wheels from the XJ6, which are new. Are they interchangheable in terms of offset? I have a beautiful 1991 4 litre Jag Sovereign that usually runs perfect except that occasionally after a long, fast run, the engine cuts out and will only run again when cooled. Also the "check eng" lamp sometimes comes on at speed. Are the two connected and what is the likely cause. Any advice much appreciated.
