Through response from members asking for such a scheme and after a significant amount of investigation into the pros and cons of them, we can now finally announce our own Extended Warranty Insurance for members.

The existing extended warranty schemes offered on Jaguars over three years old are very expensive, far in excess of £1,000 and most owners don’t take the option because of the cost. Similarly if you buy a used Jaguar, you normally get the option of a used car warranty insurance for twelve months duration, but again these are hardly ever renewed and can be expensive as the car gets older.

In all these cases the onus on repair bills falls to the owner of the car and he/she takes their chances.

Over the last twelve months the Club has been investigating these warranty schemes, both offered to the trade and the general public and, without doubt, it is something of a nightmare to determine who or what company or scheme to choose providing the best benefit for a particular case.

No scheme will cover absolutely everything. Owners are still responsible for normal wear and tear items and servicing but there are distinct benefits in having a scheme on your car. They provide a valuable ‘comfort zone’ against serious problems that may arise.

In our findings we identified one company, Auto Protect, offering a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance that we feel is good across the board in providing a comprehensive and value for money scheme including 'parts and labour' for specifically listed components. This scheme, developed to suit the Club’s particular needs will cover not only the new Jaguar models but also classics and everyday non-Jaguar vehicles and the savings are quite considerable for a Club member. Auto Protect, on our behalf, have devised a comprehensive range ofschemes from as little as £450 a year rising to a mere £525 for 'Five Star'cover and the Club is also offering a 5% discount for covering two vehicles or 10% for three or more vehicles.
